Why JEE Mains Is An Important Exam?

Once the students in India finish their board exams for the 10th Standard, they begin preparing for various entrance exams they will be taking after the 12th standard examination. These entrance exams are important because depending on the student’s score in these exams, they will be successful in taking admission for their desired course in the college on their wish list. One such entrance exam is JEE. There were two different entrance tests for the students who aspired to become engineers a few years ago they were AIEEE and IIT JEE. However after some deliberation, the Central Board for Secondary Examination decided to merge these two entrance test and they created one entrance tests for all the Government technical education institutes and Government funded engineering colleges. This entrance test is called as JEE. Students who want to take admission in these colleges for undergraduate engineering, have to have a good score in this entrance test along with high scores in the qualifying examination. This entrance test is taken in two parts, the first is JEE Mains and thesecond part is JEE Advanced.

The Mains exam score is important for qualifying for the JEE Advanced exam. Not everyone can be eligible for appearing for these exams.If you are interested in appearing for the JEE, then you have to fulfill certain eligibility criteria for that.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Mains
  • The students who have passed the qualifying examination in the year 2014 or 2015 and students appearing for the qualifying exam in 2016 are eligible for appearing at JEE 2016.
  • Birth date criteria for General category students is that their birth date should be on 1st October 1991 or before that. Birth date criteria for SC, ST and for candidates with disabilities is that their birthdate should be on 1st October 1986 or after that.
  • The candidates must have appeared and passed in five subjects in the standard12th examination or other qualifying examination.
There are two papers in the JEE exams and students can appear in both the papers and either of them. However, it is necessary that they state their decision in the application forms. Generally, the application forms for JEE are open in the month of November and they have to be submitted till the month of January. The Admit cards for the exams are given in the month of March and the actual exam is conducted in the month of April. JEE Advanced exam is conducted in the month of May.

JEE mains exam consists of two papers. The paper I consists of three subject and they are Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. Paper II deals with the Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing.Generally, students who want to take admission for B.E or B.Tech appear for Paper me and students who want to go for B.Arch. and B.Planning opt for Paper II. Many students appear for both papers as it gives them more choice for their career. Students can opt for the online exam or offline exam for the Paper I but Paper II can only be taken offline which means with a pen and paper. In the year 2016, the offline exam for JEE will be held on 3rd April 2016 and online exam will be conducted on 9th and 19th April 2016.

JEE Mains is an important exam as many students’ careers choices depend on the result of this exam. Therefore, preparation for this exam must be taken seriously. You have to be focused and dedicated towards your study and then only you will get ahigh score in this exam. You must have to have a detailed plan for the study and that plan must be executed sincerely. You may have to isolate yourselves from your family and friends and keep your concentration on studied for a period of two years if you want to do better in this exam. For better results in JEE, it is suggested that you should start your preparation immediately after your result in 10th standard Examination. This way you will get ample time to study the topics in the syllabus for the exam and also to get the concepts clear in each subject. Dedication, sincerity and focus are the most important qualities if you want to excel in this exam.
